Are you moving or thinking of moving to the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and need some fun activities to sell you on the area? The eastern panhandle is made up of three counties, Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson counties. Between these three counties there are a bunch of things to keep you busy!

1.      Cacapon State Park- This park is in Morgan County in Berkeley Springs, WV. They are a 6,000 acre state park that is filled with trails and an overlook spot in the southern part of the park. They have lodging and a beach area to have fun with friends and family along with a golf course where you can play a quick 9-hole game or the full 18. You won’t regret visiting this state park nestled in the Cacapon Mountains.

 

2.      Harpers Ferry- Take a step back in time and visit historic Harpers Ferry, WV. This small town is in Jefferson County, WV. There is an array of shops spanning from crystal and trinket shops to old time candy stores. Along with a bunch of different restaurants to try out such as, The Anvil, The Rabbit Hole Gastropub, and Kelley Farm Kitchen. If you are more into history and historic sights. John Browns fort is in the heart of the town along with the now closed Storer college, a landmark for the beginnings of where many historic black movements originated out of. Harpers Ferry is filled with many historic and unique spots including paranormal events. If any of this sparks your interests you should definitely check out the area!

 

3.      Martinsburg- Located in the heart of Berkeley county, Martinsburg has many things to do to keep you busy and fill your day with fun! Spend time downtown and visit Queen St. where you can visit De Flori’s chocolate shop, a fine chocolate shop that has been a must see spot downtown for many years. If you are looking for a relaxing date night, check out Stoney’s Whiskey and Raw Bar or Brix 27. Both have a fine selection of liquors, wines, and delicious food! These places are also located near Queen Street. If you venture outside of downtown there’s also a few farm markets that have things for all ages. Old McDonald and Orr’s Farm markets have been around for years serving the community with fruits and vegetables and family fun! Whether you want a cute photo opt, a place for your kids to let out some energy at the play areas, or during the fall months Old McDonald farm has a corn maze, animals to see, activities for all ages and so much more!
